NEET qualifying marks 2024 by NTA

The NTA will issue the NEET qualifying scores for 2024 after the release of the results. If we follow last year's pattern, medical students would need to score more than 550 on the NEET to be qualified for MBBS in a government college in 2024.

The NEET cut-off for government colleges determines eligibility for government medical colleges. Candidates must be informed of the NEET cutoffs so that government colleges may provide better references.

Scores of more than 400 are considered high for SC/ST students in NEET, which is higher than the average for OBC candidates but less competitive for General category applicants. To qualify for NEET, candidates must score at least 50%.

The NTA hasn't yet announced the NEET Cutoff Scores for the 2024 exam, which takes place this year. Candidates can view the scores from the previous year's NEET test below.

What is the NEET Cut-off?

A NEET cut-off mark is considered as the minimum score necessary to pass a medical entrance examination. In medical entrance examinations, there are two types of NEET cut-offs: qualifying cut-off and admission cut-off.

The NEET qualifying score is the minimum score required to pass the test, but the admission cut-off is the one that must be met. The NEET admission cut-off represents the maximum rank at which an applicant is considered eligible for admission.

Medical colleges that accept NEET scores use the NEET entrance cut-offs as the basis for admission. The state authorities in charge of both private and government institutions establish and announce state-specific NEET cut-offs.

Admissions are made through the NEET exam for a total of 97.293 BDS, MBBS, 603 BVSc, and AH seats, as well as 1205 AIIMS-based MBBS and 200 JIPMER MBBS seats at 15 AIIMS and two JIPMER colleges.

Factors Affecting the NEET UG Cut-Off 2024

Each year, the NEET UG cut-off score or NEET passing score varies depending on several factors, including:

  • The total number of candidates
  • Exam Difficulty
  • Seats are available in total.

How Many Marks Are Required in NEET for MBBS?

One of the most often asked questions by NEET aspirants is about the marks required to pass the NEET 2024 MBBS examination. The answer to this question varies from year to year because of many factors, including the exam's difficulty level, the number of applicants, and the number of seats available at various medical institutions.

The NEET test has 200 multiple-choice questions. The maximum score is 720. The scoring method gives four points for every correct response. It deducts one mark for each incorrect response. As a result, the candidate's NEET 2024 scores are determined by subtracting the number of correct answers from the number of incorrect replies and multiplying by one.

To pass the NEET exam, students must have a minimum qualifying score. The prior year's NEET qualifying scores were 117 out of 720. The NEET qualifying result was 117th percentile (720 marks) for unreserved candidates and 116 for reserved category applicants.

This means that unreserved category candidates must achieve at least 117 marks before being considered for admission to medical colleges for reserved category applicants, whereas unreserved category candidates must achieve at least 116 marks.

However, candidates must be aware that achieving the NEET minimum score for qualifying does not guarantee admission to medical schools. The admissions procedure for medical students via NEET is based on a mix of the candidate's NEET scores, ranking in the NEET exam, and their acceptability to admissions, which is decided by a range of criteria defined by admissions authorities.
