How NTA Percentile Is Calculated

Contrary to conventional exams, JEE Main uses a normalized percentile system to ensure fairness over different shifts.

NTA Percentile = (Number of candidates scoring the same or lower scores or more candidates) 100

Important points:

  • Percentiles reflect the relative performance

  • 100 percentile refers to the top performance for that session.

  • Raw marks could differ among toppers

  • Final All India Rank depends on the best of two sessions

What’s Next for JEE Main 2026 Toppers?

  • Eligibility for JEE Advanced 2026
  • Opportunity to improve scores in Session 2
  • Increased chances of admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs

What JEE Main 2026 Toppers Did Differently

Based on interviews with previous toppers and patterns of preparation:

1. Strong Conceptual Clarity

Toppers concentrate on understanding concepts, not the process of learning by doing.

2. NCERT + Standard Books

Particularly for Chemistry, NCERT remains the basis.

3. Extensive Mock Test Practice

  • Tests of full length
  • Papers from the previous year
  • Time management drills

4. Error Analysis

Top ranking students review the mistakes they make after each test.

5. Consistent Study Schedule

Instead of cramming last minute Toppers should be following a disciplined long-term preparation.
