NEET UG 2026 Round 2 Counselling Revised Schedule Released: Check New MCC Dates

MCC has changed the NEET UG 2026 Round 2 counselling dates. The second round will now start in September, so anyone working with the earlier timetable needs to update the dates before registration begins.

The new registration window is September 3 to 8, 2026. Choice filling continues for one more day, until 6 PM on September 9. Choices must also be locked by 6 PM that day.

The Round 2 allotment comes out on September 11, followed by college reporting from September 12 to 18.

There is a change on the state side too. State Quota Round 2 has been placed between September 7 and 11 and September 18 is the last date for joining.

Registration begins on September 3 and runs through September 8.

Before opening the form, check what happened with your Round 1 application. Someone who received no allotment and someone who already holds a Round 1 seat may not have exactly the same things to consider in the second round.

Choice Filling Gets Time Until September 9

Registration may end on September 8, but choice filling does not.

The deadline for filling choices is 6 PM on September 9. Choice locking also closes at 6 PM on September 9.

This extra day is useful. There is no reason to rush through the college list as soon as registration is done.

Look at the Round 2 vacancies first. Then make your list.

A previous year's cutoff can tell you whether a college is worth considering, but it should not decide its position in your preference order. If you would choose College B over College A when offered both, B belongs above A.

That sounds obvious, but it is easy to forget when the focus shifts entirely to ranks and cutoffs.

Already Allotted a Seat in Round 1?

For a candidate who already has a seat, Round 2 is a different decision.

Start with the college you currently have. Now look at the colleges you hope to get in the second round. Would you actually leave your present college for each one of them?

If not, there is little reason to place that college above your present option while planning an upgrade.

Also read the current MCC rules for your allotment status before making a move. Do not assume that an upgradation decision works the same way in every situation.

No Seat in Round 1? Rework Your College List

If Round 1 ended without an allotment, go back to the choices you had filled.

Were there too few colleges? Were most of them well above the range suggested by your rank? Did you leave out colleges that you would actually be willing to join?

Round 2 is a chance to reconsider that list.

Start again with the seats available in this round. Keep your preferred colleges high, but add sensible options that you would genuinely accept if allotted.

There is no point filling a college simply because its cutoff looks reachable if you have no intention of joining it.

NEET UG Round 2 Result on September 11

The second-round allotment result is due on September 11, 2026.

When the result appears, read the entire allotment entry. Check the college and course, but also look at the quota and category under which the seat has been given.

Those who receive an allotment then move into the reporting period, which starts the following day.

College Reporting From September 12 to 18

Round 2 reporting is scheduled between September 12 and September 18.

That is the period for completing the required joining formalities at the allotted institution.

If your preferred colleges are outside your home city or state, keep travel in mind while making choices. A September 11 result followed by reporting from September 12 does not leave much time to start planning from scratch.

Original certificates and other admission papers are another thing worth arranging beforehand. Use the document requirements given by MCC and the allotted institution when preparing them.

State Quota Round 2 Dates Have Also Changed

Students following state counselling need a separate set of dates.

The revised State Quota Round 2 counselling period is September 7 to September 11, 2026.

The last date for joining is September 18.

Do not mix these dates with MCC's AIQ timetable. State counselling is run by the respective state authority, and individual activities can have their own deadlines.

If you are participating in both processes, keep two separate schedules.

This is much easier than opening the choice-filling page with no list prepared and trying to compare dozens of colleges at the last minute.
