In response to these allegations, the NTA clarified that the NEET cut-off is determined annually based on the candidate's performance during the examination. In comparison to previous years, the outcomes this year have been exceedingly impressive. Consequently, it is expected that the cut-off marks will be elevated.

Why did Candidates Score 718 and 719 in NEET 2024?

On the basis of a few petitions filed by NEET 2024 candidates in the High Court of Punjab & Haryana, Delhi, and Chhattisgarh, which raised concerns about the loss of examination time in the conduct of the test at a few exam centres, NTA had previously declared that it would award these candidates grace marks to compensate for the time lost.

To ascertain the petitions, a Grievance Redressal Committee reviewed CCTV footage and factual reports. Following the verification of the exam time loss, the applicants were compensated for their scores based on the efficacy of their answers and the time lost, by the procedure and formula established by the Supreme Court of India.

NTA declared that candidates were compensated for the time lost and their marks were revised to a range of -20 marks to 720 marks. Furthermore, compensatory marks have resulted in the scores of two candidates being 718 and 719, respectively. The credibility of the examination was not compromised in these centres, as determined by the analysis of the CCTV footage.

what Reason for the High Number of Candidates Scoring Full Marks

A total of 67 applicants have achieved a score of 720 out of 720. All of them have attained an All India Rank (AIR) of 1. Some individuals with an interest have questioned this. Others have proposed that the paper leak and the presence of numerous champions at the same NEET exam centre may have been contributing factors. The NTA has denied these claims and has provided justifications.

The NTA reported a 15% increase in the number of candidates for the NEET 2024 examination. "The number of applicants who participated in 2023 was 20,38.596, while the number of applicants who participated in 2024 increased to 23,33,297." The NTA stated that the increase in the number of candidates resulted in a natural increase in the number of high scorers due to the larger number of candidates.

44 Candidates Achieved Full Scores as a Result of Bonus Marking in Response to the NEET 2024 Answer Key Challenge

NTA also stated that 44 candidates have received scores of 720 as a consequence of the bonus marking of one question that has two correct answer choices. "The answer key for the Physics question was submitted to NTA by 13,373 contestants." The Subject Expert(s) determined that two alternatives should be deemed the correct option in this question due to the varying versions of the new and old versions in the NCERT textbook. 44 of the 67 candidates with 720/720 marks were the result of revisions in one Physics Answer Key, while 06 are based on compensatory marks for the loss of time.
